Stack POV: Website and Hosting

Adobe DreamweaverAdobe

The HTML and CSS editor we still reach for when the work is hand-authored email and landing page markup.

Dreamweaver is unfashionable and useful. For email template work, manual landing page edits, and the pixel-precision HTML and CSS that marketing automation platforms still require, a real code editor with live preview saves time. We are not romantic about the tool; we use it when it is the right shape for the job.

What feeds it

HTML and CSS source, image assets, and the visual design files those assets came from.

What it feeds

Email templates loaded into marketing automation platforms, custom landing page markup, and the static HTML artifacts that occasionally still need to ship.

Problems it solves

  • >Hand-authored HTML email markup that survives the eccentricities of email client rendering.
  • >Quick visual preview during development without round-tripping through a marketing platform.
  • >Site comparison and FTP integration for sites still running on traditional hosting.
Why we like it

Where it earns the line item.

For email template work, having a code editor that respects HTML email's quirks (table-based layout, inline styles, conditional comments) is genuinely useful. Modern code editors are more powerful in general; Dreamweaver is more native to this specific use case.

Known limitations

What we have run into in real engagements.

  • !Adobe's investment in the tool has been minimal for years.
  • !Modern web development has largely moved past the workflow Dreamweaver was designed for.
  • !Younger operators often have not used Dreamweaver and reasonably prefer VS Code.
Framework fit

Where Adobe Dreamweaver fits in Define, Develop, Deliver.

Develop

Email template development and hand-authored markup work for landing pages and one-off HTML artifacts.

Frequently asked questions

QDo you work in Dreamweaver for clients who already use it?+
Yes. Most engagements are inside instances that have been running for a year or more, where the original implementation has drifted and the current team needs senior judgment to repair and re-govern it.
QCan you help us decide whether Dreamweaver is the right tool for us?+
Selection conversations are part of the work. The right answer almost always comes down to the team that has to operate it, the integration depth required, and the cost trajectory three years out, not the feature comparison matrix.
Operate Adobe Dreamweaver with discipline

Need senior help with Adobe Dreamweaver?

Most Adobe Dreamweaver engagements we run are inside instances that have been operating for a while and have accumulated configuration drift. The work is to repair, re-govern, and make the platform behave the way the strategy assumes it does.
